Civil Society Forum 2019

Across the globe, in diverse cultural and national contexts, signs abound of a fraying of the social fabric.

Civil Society Forum 2019

Social Protection and Transformative Fiscal and Wage Policy: Addressing inequalities and challenges to social inclusion through fiscal, wage and social protection policies

Friday, February 15th, 2019 | United Nations HQ, Conference Room 4

The Civil Society Forum was planned by the NGO Committee for Social Development in joint sponsorship with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and the UN-DESA Division for Inclusive Social Development. The Forum served to prepare civil society participants to engage at the 57th Session of the Commission for Social Development (11 to 21 February 2019 at the UNHQ in New York).

It also aimed to promote an inclusive dialogue to foster cooperation between Member States, Civil Society and the United Nations, and to unify behind a common vision in furtherance of the Sustainable Development Goals. Speakers were invited to address and critique the priority theme for the Commission: "Addressing inequalities and challenges to social inclusion through fiscal, wage and social protection policies".
