About Us:

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) is the oldest political foundation in Germany with a rich tradition in social democracy dating back to its foundation in 1925. The foundation owes its formation and its mission to the political legacy of its namesake Friedrich Ebert, the first democratically elected President of Germany.

The work of our political foundation focuses on the core ideas and values of social democracy – freedom, justice and solidarity. This connects us to social democracy and free trade unions. As a non-profit institution, we organise our work autonomously and independently.

Our office in New York serves as the liaison for FES offices worldwide with the United Nations (UN) in New York and the International Financial Institutions (International Monetary Fund and World Bank) in Washington, D.C. The office addresses peace, justice and economic issues, working closely with academia, civil society, multilateral institutions and their Member State governments to convene multi-stakeholder debates. The formats of our work include international conferences, expert workshops and high-level meetings as well as publications such as policy briefs and analytical studies.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Policy Analyst to join our team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conceptualize and implement international dialogue programs (e.g. political panel discussions, seminars, and conferences on current foreign and security topics) relevant to FES, the UN and the multilateral system.
     
  • Research and analysis; writing and/or editing articles, publications and research projects on international affairs, the UN and Multilateralism.
     
  • Build and maintain relationships with political stakeholders, including UN agencies, diplomats, government representatives, civil society organizations, policymakers, and our FES network of over 100 offices globally.
     
  • Supervise, coordinate, delegate, and/or support logistical, operational, and communication details for individual projects.

About You:

Education and Work Experience:
B.A. required, M.A. preferred. Minimum of three years of relevant work experience required.

Skills:
Strong analytical skills; strong knowledge of international politics, multilateral institutions and progressive ideas; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Excellent organizational and event management skills; Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment; Fluency in English required, fluency in German is an asset.

Work Authorization:
Existing work authorization for the United States is required. FES cannot sponsor visas.
