The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in New York hosted an off-the-record roundtable discussion on “Elections in the US and in Germany: Consequences for Multilateralism” with Dirk Meyer, Director General for multilateral development policy, transformation, and climate at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

As a leading political strategist, Mr. Meyer has helped shape Germany’s strategy on multilateral policies of the last three governments. The meeting, held under Chatham House rule with a small group of experts, provided an opportunity to assess the consequences of the recent US presidential election on multilateralism and the rules-based international order while looking ahead to the upcoming German elections on February 23.
