A recent study by the RAND Corporation and the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) analyzes what African-led peace operations have been able to accomplish. At this Luncheon Discussion, the lead author, Ambassador James Dobbins provided an overview of the study's key findings. Based on a number of case studies, Ambassador Dobbins highlighted the comparative advantage of African-led missions over other types of deployments, as well as the recurring challenges that they continue to face. He also presented proposals for improving African-led peace operations and for strengthening their international support.
