Fall Academy 2023

Once again, we brought a group of young leaders from across the globe to the United Nations in New York for a week of learning and exchange.

The FES Fall Academy is a week-long training program organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in New York since 2006. Participating in the 2023 Fall Academy were 10 young policy makers coming from 10 different countries across 5 continents.

This year’s Fall Academy took place against the backdrop of several unfolding global crises, such as the accelerating climate crisis, violent conflicts, inequality, debt crises, inflation, food and energy shortages, and more. Participants received first-hand information from international political experts, diplomats, and United Nations officials on how today’s interconnected challenges are addressed by international diplomacy and through cooperation at the United Nations. While deepening their theoretical and practical understanding of the multilateral system, participants also reflected on political challenges in their home countries and discussed how to put multilateral frameworks to strategic use on the international and national level.
